How to choose a domain name?
Here are some points to consider when choosing a domain name:
Always use .com
If yours is a serious business site, avoid using domains ending in biz or info or any one of the score of new top level domains. Your business will have little credibility if you do so. You can consider registering a .net domain, but since most people are familiar with .com, it is better to stick to convention.
Keep it short and memorable
Don’t make your primary domain too long. Even though domains name can be as long as 255 characters, how many of your users will want to type a domain name like “buyyourcheaphousehere.com”?
Avoid using hyphens in your domain name
Domains containing hyphens are difficult to remember, spell and pronounce.
Register a domain name containing a keyword relevant to the content of your site
This helps your site get a higher ranking witht he search engines.
Use your company name, own name or a relevant solution-related name.
If you can creating a brand name or identity then use your company name. But bear in mind that you will need a lot of marketing effort to tell your customer what you sell. Look at Amazon for instance, they spend millions of dollar in their marketing campaign to get people know that they sell books, DVDs and electronics.
Now if you don’t have millions of dollar in your marketing budget, then you might be better off using a benefit or solution-related name. “Brainstorm domain names that solve a problem”. For example, if your company “ABC medical” and sells back pain relief remedies then you could register “stopbackpain.com” instead of “ABCmedical.com”
Register your domain name quickly once you have decided on it.
If you don’t some other people on this planet might get it before you. Goto any domain name registration company or you may consider godaddy.com or iPower.com
